Details of safety observation:
Contractors were standing on recently bulldozed natural land. As they were talking a rattlesnake struck at one of the contractors, making contact with his boot. Had the snake aimed higher it could have punctured the skin and injected venom.
Immediate action taken:
The contractor jumped away from the snake. The other contractors backed away and watched the snake flee. Contractors were reminded to watch the ground as they worked and to wear gloves when working with downed vegetation to protect from potential insect stings/bites.
